Self-cure inactivation of resin cements

Abstract

Self-curing resin cement with the addition of Anion Exchange Resins (AER) will be developed and the influence of the AER concentration in material properties will be verified. Experimental cements (C) will be obtained at concentrations of AER ranging from 0, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24 and 32%. Specimens for three point bending and elastic modulus, sorption and solubility, degree of conversion and hardness will be produced. In the second part the self-cure cement without the addition of AER and with the AER concentration which attains better performance in the first part of the study will be assessed in vitro. Composite discs will be luted in human molars with the self-cure cements with or without AER and the adhesive systems One Step Plus, All Bond 3 and All Bond SE, with or without the application of an additional layer of hydrophobic resin. The specimens will be stored in water for 24 hours at 37 °C, and beams will be obtained, 4 beams used for nanoleakage analysis, 4 for nanoindentation test and the others for microtensile bond strength test. Nanoindentation of the adhesive interface components, Nanoleakage and Microtensile tests will be performed after 24 hours and 6 months of water storage. For two teeth from each group will be incorporated into the system Fluorescein and Rhodamine B to the adhesive system and resin cement, and the interface will be observed under a Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM). The teeth observed under CLSM will be sectioned in the center and the interface will be evaluated after 24 hours. (AU)
