Abstract

The health workers encounter insalubrious conditions in their work places and, in addition to the occupational risks inherent to the profession, they are exposed to cardiovascular diseases, an aspect little studied in our midst. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the workers health conditions in a public, general and large hospital. For this, there will be 883 workers from a hospital located in Sao Jose dos Campos (SP) selected, who have employees under the Employer Law or statutory, aged 18 years, who can read and write and agree to participate in the study by signing the Informed Consent. Data collection will make in two steps and nine instruments will be used: socio-demographic characteristics, perceived morbidity and risk factors, stress assessment, Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), assessment of knowledge of the hypertension and treatment, assess compliance, attitudes to taking the medicine, physical and laboratory examinations, and Framingham Coronary Heart Disease Risk Score. In step 1, the workers will be drawn and then invited to participate of the study. Researchers will give to volunteers the questionnaires to be answered and they will schedule a date for completion of clinical and laboratory examinations. In step 2, the volunteers will be instructed to perform a blood test on the scheduled date and, thereafter, they will make the blood pressure and anthropometric measures and the Ambulatory Blood Pressure will be installed for 24 hours. In possession of the results of physical and laboratory examinations the Framingham Coronary Heart Disease Risk Score will be the assessment. (AU)
