Abstract

The main objective of the visit of Dr. Gert-Ake Hansson is to take part in two research projects currently run in the Laboratory of Preventive Physical Therapy and Ergonomics of the Post-Graduation Programme in Federal University of Sao Carlos. Parts of these projects were discussed previously, during meetings in events that we participated abroad, and in an anterior short visit of Dr. Hansson to our lab in 2003. One of this projetcs is a result from a previous study in which he has also participated when being in Sueden. As a result from this collaboration, we had a paper accepted for publication in Gait & Posture recently. In this study healthy subjects will be submitted to quadriceps excentric training and have their knee movements measured by electrogoniometer. In another study soucers of error from knee electrogoniometer will be evaluated in simulated measurements performed in one device, and in real situations, when adopting different procedures for recording movements (in simultaneous and consecutive measurements). Finally, data from one EMG study on manual handing can possibly be also analyzed. Part of the data from these studies are already collected and are related to projects supported by FAPESP(Proc.N.2004/07207-0; Proc.N.2004/155795; Proc.N. 2005/538043. Dr. Hansson will bring a software developed/adapted in his lab. that will increase our capability of the analysis for the studies described. He will also conduct workshops on whole-day measurements methods during actual work in the field for the students of the Post-Gradution Programme in Physical Therapy in the Federal University of Sao Carlos. Dr. Hasson is pioneer in EGM error evaluation, having already published several papers in peer reviewed papers in this issue. (AU)
