Abstract

Profa. Rivka Ravid will participate in the evaluation of the results obtained in the last two years by BEHGEEC and in the strategic planning for the next biennium. These results include the scientific production obtained with the material provided by the BEHGEEC, both by the GEEC as well as the collaborators. We aim to assess whether the past choices regarding research lines and collaborative projects were proper and what is necessary to improve Moreover, Prof. Rivka will interact directly with students and researchers by showing the state-of-the-art techniques used in the practice of brain banking. During the second week of the visit, we will elaborate together the code of conduct of the BEHGEEC, based on internationally accepted criteria. Finally, Prof. Rivka will participate at the 2nd meeting of Brazilian researchers in aging brain and deliver the lecture "Brain banks can make or break biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease." To have someone as qualified as Profa. Rivka to provide consulting to us and to participate actively in our decisions is crucial to maximize the success of our efforts and save time and money. Despite the fact that the BEHGEEC already has some recognition and experience, it is in operation for only five years. We are positive that the quality of our project can be further improved and benefit more research groups from the state and the country. Every year new projects and partners request the use of innovative methods. Therefore, it is imperative to be versatile so that we can comply with the scientific community needs. (AU)
