Abstract

During the visit of Professor Geovan Tavares we will investigate and develop techniques for processing massive amounts of data, focusing mainly on the visualization and modeling of music data. The goal is to study the theory of non-negative matrices and the possible ramifications of such a theory in the context of modeling and visualization of massive data, mainly targeting music databases. It is worth noting however, that the techniques developed here can also be applied to model data from companies that work with large amounts of information and wish to extract knowledge from its database. Thus, the theme of this project brings naturally the duality between research and innovation. The aimed results can be transferred in the form of product to companies. (AU)
