Abstract

Our two-year Post-doctoral proposal aims at investigating two well-studied branches of research in the field of computer sciences: computer vision and visualization. In the front of computer vision, the goal is to manipulate, segment and interact with large graphs generated from digital images by using energy minimization functionals, graph cuts and spectral processing-based algorithms. Considering the information visualization field, the goal aims at studying techniques for overlap removal and visual layout arrangement such those employed to manage word clouds and visual layouts with geometric entities generated from multidimensional projection data.Therefore, the post-doctoral plan intents, at the same time, to continue the research of the topics studies by the candidate during his PhD in collaboration with centers of research abroad an investigate new fields of research such as energy minimization on big graphs and spectral analysis in the context of visualization and high-dimensional data processing. Applications such as interactive segmentation of digital photography, multiscale analysis, techniques of numerical resolution of large matrices and interactive processing of high-dimensional data are also some of the areas of study to be investigated during the post-doctoral research.
