Abstract

Summary of the Work PlanThe work plan for the visit of Dr. Christopher M. U. Neale includes several research activities related to ongoing projects as well as the development of applications of technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote Sensing in irrigation engineering and irrigated agriculture. The main project to be supported will be the REQUAI (Network for Research, Development and Innovation of Standards and Quality in Irrigation and Drainage - FAPESP project 2010/52207-0). Other ongoing projects at ESALQ (Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz) will also have the technical support of Dr. Neale in his area of specialization. The REQUAI project work plan includes the review of proposed and ongoing project activities, an analysis of the methodology, the development of tools for GIS and Remote Sensing analysis, and the adaptation of these tools to other irrigated areas in the State of Sao Paulo. Dr. Neale will also support the graduate program in Agricultural Systems Engineering at ESALQ, co-advising students, conducting seminars and training sessions as well as divulging the scientific research output of the REQUAI and other research projects of the graduate program through papers and publications.
