Abstract

The Pólo da Alta Sorocabana laboratory, Presidente Prudente, SP, Brazil, performed the laboratory diagnosis of rabies since 1995, the year he was licensed to do so by the Ministry of Health. From that year to date, has isolated the rabies virus in several species of the bats non- haematophagous, as well as of other mammals, such as cattle and horses and performed several experiments involving this zoonosis. Based on these studies, it was found that the rabies virus continues to circulate in the region with several variants, then proposes a further study involving aspects of these viral strains using for this inoculation in mice. This research aims to study the genetic variability, antigenic and pathogenic viruses isolated. (AU)
