The social family inclusion and the routine of individuals suffering with deficiency and affected by disabling conditions

Abstract

The general objective of this project is to identify the conditions of family inclusion of individuals with deficiency and those with chronic-degenerative diseases with physical, mental, sensorial and psychosocial disabling conditions and identify their needs in the field of daily and routine living. Its specific objectives include: to identify the place occupied by the individual with deficiency and disabling conditions in her/his family group; understand the role played by the individual with deficiency and disabilities in the family dynamics; identify the dynamics in the daily life of the studied individuals; map activities and occupations or which is included in their daily lives. This is a qualitative methodological study whose data collection techniques include history of life and observation. The study's subjects include individuals older than 16 years old with some deficiency or impairment with cognitive conditions to answer about their history of life, residents in the region ascribed to the Núcleo da Saúde da Família I (Health Family Center) in the city of Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil, who consent to participate in the study. The study setting includes the households of the individuals visited after being contacted by the mentioned health service. Data analysis will be conducted based on the dialectic hermeneutics, which seeks to perform interpretative-reconstructive analysis of data. Additionally, the study is linked to the occupational therapy teaching activity of the Occupational Therapy program, University of São Paulo, Medical School. (AU)
