Comparative study of gastrointestinal parasite infection and ectoparasite infestation in beef cattle raised at silvopastoral and conventional systems in São Paulo State

Abstract

We will study the behavior of gastrointestinal parasite infections and infestation by Rhipicephalus microplus and the horn fly Haematobia irritans, in beef cattle raised in silvopastoral system compared to the conventional system. The experiment will be conducted in experimental fields of Southeast Embrapa Cattle, São Carlos, SP. The level of infection by gastrointestinal parasites and infestation by ectoparasites of cattle will be evaluated in animals and pastures, concomitantly, the two farming systems. Will be evaluated further, production and quality of forage produced in the paddocks, behavior and weight gain of animals, fauna associated with dung pats and conditions of the microclimate in two types of beef production systems.
