Abstract
Precision Agriculture (PA) is a management system based on localized information and technology that uses one or more sources of information to minimize costs and/or maximize production while considering sustainability and environmental protection. This management system should be applied to the production of sugarcane, given the complexity of operations involved in agricultural production as well as the need for constant monitoring of the vegetative cycle. Among the available technologies remote sensing is the one that has the highest potential for use in AP. The development and availability of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for low altitude enabled the acquisition of imagery with high spatial resolution without interference from cloud, besides the advantage of lower costs in relation to satellite imagery. The UAV has become an interesting alternative for collecting data and can generate information on the behavior of vegetation and its correlation with other parameters, essential for monitoring and management of the vegetative cycle and the agricultural operations. Despite its potential, this technology is still new in agriculture and need more research and methodological development to make these vehicles operational in large-scale. The aim of this project is to develop methodology for use of UAV associated with soil, climate and plant data to generate monthly bulletins monitoring of biomass aiming precision agriculture in sugarcane.
