Institutional support to intellectual property demand in the University of São Paulo

Abstract

The USP Innovation Agency is responsible for managing the Intellectual Property in the University of São Paulo. Currently the team is made up of 24 employees (and also 31 scholarships and 10 interns) working in a large range of technological innovation activities. Throughout these years, a large number of scientific and technological projects, with support from FAPESP, have been done in the University. The increase of the numbers of projects, and also the patentable results make it necessary an additional budget support for the adequate application and maintenance of patents. This fact is the main motivation for the USP Innovation Agency participation in the Intellectual Property Support Program - Mode Institutional. Recent surveys showed that the USP has about 70 International patents and about 750 national patents. Following the rules for resource estimation for this project, we conclude that the amount of R$ 135,374.07 would cover the purpose of this request, in accordance with the details and explanations contained in the attached Project.
