Abstract

This project aims at the creation of a terminological database on the Natural Sciences in order to gather and store information relevant to a terminological study and the development of a terminological dictionary of Natural Sciences for teachers working in elementary school in Brazilian schools. To achieve this goal, there will be a survey of terms and concepts discussed in Science textbooks geared toward students from the 1st to the 5th year of primary school. The books that comprise the corpus of study were selected by Plano Nacional do Livro Didático, from 2010 and 2013, prepared by MEC. In order to develop the proposed Project, it will be necessary to use the theoretical apparatus presented by Terminology, whose studies have advanced towards offering the terminologist-researcher not only methodological procedures for the preparation of databases and terminological dictionaries, but also a theory that accounts for the observed linguistic phenomena.
