Abstract

Female reproductive function is coordinated by hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis, in which endocrine, cellular and molecular factors act together to develop a promising environment to follicular development and maturation, and a receptive endometrium for embryo implantation. During those processes, a number of genes are super or sub expressed for controlling the ovulatory cycle. The cumulus cells gene expression directly affect the oocyte maturation and then it development potential. In the endometrium, gene expression modifications can regulate the tissue remodeling and implantation window for endometrium and embryos synchrony. In that perspective, small simple strand RNA molecules which act as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression, the microRNA (miRNA) seems to be essential. Hence, we aim in this study, to evaluate the miRNA expression of endometrial biopsies, endocervix stretch, cumulus cells and peripheral blood from infertile patients undergoing IVF cycles. The possible alterations in miRNA expressions and consequently the gene expression controlling can contribute to folliculogenesis process understanding, and oocyte quality and embryo implantation in IVF cycles. This approach will allows us to find biomarkers to better oocyte and embryo selection in IVF cycles, and will prospect the treatment protocol changes in order to obtain higher endometrial receptivity and clinical outcomes.
