Determination of the kinetical parameters for the Aspergillus nidulans glucose transporters hxtBp, hxtCp, and hxtEp


In filamentous fungi, few genes were identified that are related to glucose transport and sensing. In our laboratory, we identified four homologues of S. cerevisiae Snf3 and Rgt2 glucose sensors in A. nidulans named hxtB, hxtC, hxtD e hxtE. The deletion mutants allowed us to characterize them phenotypically. We also evaluated their ability to complement a strain of S. cerevisiae (EBY.VW4000) unable to grow on glucose as single carbon source. The main objective of our project is to understand the transport kinetics associated to hxtBp, hxtCp e hxtEp in the strain EBY.VW4000 that will work as a "cleanroom". Glucose labelling experiments will be determined. (AU)
