Evaluation of management and pre-incubation hatchability of fertile eggs on the chick quality performance and carcass yield of broilers

Abstract

An experiment will be conducted at the Department of Animal Science, Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia (FMVZ), campus Pirassununga, SP, to evaluate the influence of management pre-incubation and incubation of fertile eggs and its effects on egg weight loss, percentage of pipped eggs, hatching percentage and hatchability, egg tester, embryo mortality and chick quality obtained. In this aspect will be evaluated characteristics such as feathers, beak and appearance of the eyes, legs, belly, size and the others abnormalities. The incubation temperature is in the range of 37,5° - 38°C and relative humidity from 50 to 60%. The humidity of storage room will be 70 - 85% to help control evaporation. Will be used 1620 fertile eggs from Department of Animal Science from FMVZ, in a completely randomized 2x2 factorial , with factors: storage times (5 and 10 days), storage temperature (18-20º and 14-16°C) for a total of 4 treatments with nine replicates of 45 eggs each. After the outbreak will held embriodiagnosis unhatched eggs and classified as a consequence of infertility or embryonic mortality will be evaluated and the zootechnical performance, quality and carcass yield of broilers obtained from the incubation.
