Project for use of the institutional over head of FZEA 2011: research infrastructure

Abstract

The School of Animal Science and Food Engineering (FZEA) is composed of three departments, the Basic Sciences Department (ZAB), the Animal Science Department (ZAZ) and the Food Engineering Department, comprising 45 research and undergraduate laboratories, classrooms, administration and teachers offices. The scientific production, regarding published articles in indexed journals, has increased more than 50% between 2005 and 2010. Considering only the publications in international journals, this augmentation was about 84%. This dynamism of the faculty members of FZEA has, as consequence, the continuous influx of monetary resources coming from the institutional over head, with growing rate above 500% between 2008 and 2011. Moreover, through the faculty members, FZEA has been collecting near 7.2 million R$ (reals) annually from the FAPESP for research development. It is therefore necessary to grant the faculty members who are developing those researches the minimum necessary infrastructure conditions. Thus, the general aim of this project is the acquisition of equipment’s and of services requested by the Departments, to support the research groups and laboratories, characterized as research infrastructure. The specific aims are the acquisition of laboratory equipment; building maintenance aiming adequate arrangements; amend of basic infrastructure of old buildings that bring safety risks for several laboratories.
