Abstract

Economic evaluation has increasingly participated in decisions about funding new technologies for health systems. Systematic review of economic evaluation studies have been conducted in several countries to assess the quality of published studies. The aim of this study is to systematically review economic evaluation of health technologies conducted in Brazil. This systematic review will follow the methodological guidelines of the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination - CRD, Institute of Medicine - IOM, Cochrane Collaboration and Community Guide to Community Preventive Services, including the steps: identification, screening, eligibility and studies inclusion. Full and partial economic evaluations studies published in Medline, Embase, Lilacs, NHS EED, HTA Database, HEED, as well as unpublished studies available at SISREBRATS database and gray literature, from 1980 to 2012, will be analyzed. Methodological quality of full economic evaluation (cost-effectiveness, cost-consequences, cost-minimization, cost-utility and cost-benefit analysis), and quality of evidence used in each component of the economic evaluation will be assessed. Qualitative synthesis strategy, narrative synthesis, will be used. The results will be presented in figures and summary tables. Meta-analysis will not be performed. The project will be developed in partnership with researchers of the Centre for Review and Dissemination - CRD, and Centre for Health Economics - CHE, University of York, United Kingdom. (AU)
