Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the cyclic fatigue resistance of nickel-titanium instruments submitted to dynamic testing of flexion as well as the influence of variation in the speed of penetration/traction on the two types of instruments. Will be evaluated fifteen instruments of the systems Reciproc (VDW) and Wave One (Dentsply-Maillefer), and tested the instruments R25, R40 and R50 (Reciproc system and Small File 21, Primary File 25 e Large File 40 (Wave One System) all of 25 mm in length. All instruments are subjected to bending tests by means of a device specifically designed for the study. The test apparatus consists of an artificial radicular canal curved, made of tempered stainless steel and has a 5 mm radius of curvature and angle of 45 ° which will move axially to the instrument at a speed of 120 or 160 dislocations per minute. The instruments will be driven by mutual kinematics through the electric motor Reciproc Silver (VDW). The handpiece in this engine will be coupled instruments mentioned systems, which will be introduced in the artificial channel and there will fire up working free of fracture. The time to fracture is recorded by a stopwatch and, thereafter, will be calculated the number of cycles performed by the instruments to fracture. The comparison of the average number of cycles to fracture will be subjected to statistical analysis after testing for normality. The significance level is 5%. (AU)
