Abstract

Due to the importante hole playied by metallic centers in byologic structures and processes and of the increasing knowledge about the action of transition metals in antiinflamatory, antitumors, photodinamic therapy, among others, this proposal intends to contribute to the development of new trinuclear ruthenium carboxilates with potential pharmacological activity, in which the carboxilate should be drugs such as ibuprophen. The new compounds should be studied from a supramolecular viewpoint, which concepts turn the chemists able to plan new molecules with pre-stablished functions, looking foward to develop new metallo-drugs. Also, it is intended to study interesting photophysical events, using nitrosil ruthenium complexes with polipyridnic functionalized ligands as prototypes, aiming to observe intercomponents processes such as photoinduced electronic or energy transfer. The understanding and controlling these processes allow the development of new materials with potential application in photodinamic therapy. Finally, it is proposed to study the inclusion compounds formation between the nitrosil componds and cyclodextrines. This proposal arises from two main reasons: first of all, the inclusion permits to modulate electronic levels in the molecules, and it might have implications in the photoinduced labilization of the NO ligand. Secondly, the inlusion possibly will improve the water solubility of the nem compounds. (AU)
