Abstract

Espaços inteligentes são ambientes digitais sensíveis e responsivos à presença de pessoas. Suas características chave são inteligência e ubiquidade. Inteligência diz respeito ao ambiente poder analisar o contexto, se adaptar às pessoas e objetos que o habitam, aprender com seu comportamento e possivelmente até reconhecer e expressar emoções. Ubiquidade indica que dispositivos miniaturizados farão parte de forma invisível das atividades das pessoas, em que as interações e funções sociais serão proeminentes. Um exemplo concreto com essas características é um hangar para manutenção de sistemas complexos de engenharia, por exemplo a manutenção rotineira de aeronaves em operação. A inspeção e manutenção de uma aeronave segue procedimentos rigorosos e estritos definidos pelo fabricante da aeronave. Ela ocorre, entretanto, nos diversos aeroportos onde essa aeronave pousa, e é gerenciada por uma companhia aérea proprietária da aeronave. Temos, portanto, três organizações que interagem para a inspeção e manutenção de uma aeronave - o fabricante da aeronave, o pessoal do aeroporto e o proprietário da aeronave. A interação tem como objetivo garantir a segurança e qualidade da aeronave, minimizando o período de bloqueio para operações de inspeção e manutenção. Essa atividade mobiliza pessoal altamente especializado, localizado tanto junto à aeronave como remotamente. Características altamente dinâmicas interferem no processo, como por exemplo a disponibilidade de equipamentos e pessoal especializado para efetuar medições e intervenções em aeronaves. As medições e intervenções ótimas a efetuar, portanto, variam dependendo de circunstâncias locais e momentâneas encontradas... (AU)Intelligent spaces are digital environments sensible and responsive to the presence of people. Their key features are intelligence and ubiquity. Intelligence is related to the environment being able to analyse a context, adapt itself to people and objects that inhabit it, learn with their behaviour and even recognise and express emotions. Ubiquity means that miniaturised devices will take part invisibly in human activities, to which social functions and interactions are central. A concrete example with these features is a space for the maintenance of complex engineering systems, e.g. the routine maintenance of operating aircrafts. The inspection and maintenance of an aircraft follows rigorous and strict procedures defined by its manufacturer. It occurs in the various airports where this aircraft lands, and is managed by the owner of the aircraft. We have, therefore, three organisations that interact for the inspection and maintenance of an aircraft - the manufacturer, the airport personnel and the owner of the aircraft. The interaction has as a goal to ensure the safety and quality of the aircraft, minimising the blocking period of the aircraft for the operations of inspection and maintenance. This activity requires highly trained personnel, located near the aircraft as well as remotely. Highly dynamic variables interfere in the process, such as the availability of specialised personnel and equipment to perform the measurements and interventions in aircrafts. The optimal measurements and interventions, therefore, vary depending on local and momentary circumstances. In one such context, different times must be synchronised an different models of the physical reality must be coupled: there is a flow of technical information about the characteristics of the aircraft (e.g. related to their physical materials) and the relevant engineering procedures...
