Abstract

Hospital institutions, being part of the health system, have been considered as concern targets in several countries because they need changes to account for new demands from the society. The definition of the role of nutrition service in a hospital institution is still very broad and with different complexity levels. The quality of this service is fundamental to reduce internship costs, avoiding hospital malnutrition. To know the reality of nutritional attention and to propose a model which accounts for the internship patient demands and contributes to the quality of hospital services is necessary given the problems associated with intra-hospital malnutrition and the role of food as therapeutic coadjuvant. The objective of this project is to know the nutrition attention practices in different institutions to characterize this area. Its aim is to diagnose the reality of nutrition attention in order to help elaborating future propositions, which attend internship patient demands and contribute to an improvement in the quality of hospital nutrition services. The diagnosis of nutrition actions in hospital institutions will be made with hospital institutions in the cities of Ribeirão Preto and Campinas via the application of a 62-question structured questionnaire to nutritionists responsible for the nutrition services in these institutions. To construct a model of hospital nutritional attention, a structured questionnaire will be applied to professors and researchers active in the clinical nutrition area and registered in the Lattes platform. This questionnaire will be fundamented on different documents involving diagnoses and propositions on practices' patterns in the hospital nutritional attention area, and it will contain a Likert scale for the statements of the respondees.
