Use of the temperature gradiente gel electrophoresis for determination of the cecal microbial profile of poultry against Salmonella Enteritidis

Abstract

The intestinal microbiota of poultry is fundamental to the full development of the productive potencial because it ensures the proper functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in full use of dietary components and sistemic and local immunological development. Many additiveshave been used in order to favor, direct or undirectly, the beneficial colonization of the gastrontestinal tract, however, there is still no information about the existance of a desireble default profile for this microbiota. Thus, this work aims to use the Temperature Gradient Gel Electrophoresis, already proven to be sensible and specific to identify the coposition of bacterial communities, to evaluate and define the cecal microbiota components of poultry feeded with diets with different additives and challanged with Salmonella Enteritidis. The immunological status will be evaluated periodically by quantifying the imunoglobulin A from the intestinal mucosa, imunoglobulins G and M from blood serum, production of interleukins 8 and 17 on the cecal mucosa and, finally, histopathological annalysis of the cecal tonsils. Afterwards, all these information will be crossed with the microbial profiles found, looking for a relation between the microbial composition and the evaluated parameters. (AU)
