Dr. Zuoqiang Hao visit: study of aerosol optical properties in the city of São Paulo using the CRDs technique: implementation and validation

Abstract

Dr. Zuoqiang Hao has an extensive experience in the field of applied optics with emphasis on instrumentation for spectroscopic analysis of gases and particles through nano-particles and supercontinuum spectrum generated by high power lasers (Terawatt-lasers). He also has experience in Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS) using supercontinuum light for simultaneous multi-component trace gas analysis. Currently, he is Professor from School of Science at the Changchun University of Science and Technology, China performing research and teaching activities in applied physics. His experience in instrumentation and applied optics will be very useful for the implementation of a CRDS system for studies of aerosol optical properties in São Paulo. The evaluation of the results can be made directly by comparing with a LIDAR system (Light Detection and Ranging - already operating at the CLA/IPEN), data of extinction and absorption coefficients and angstrom exponents observed on the surface.
