Manipulation of atomic collisions in optical traps

Abstract

In recent years, our laboratory completely dominated the technique of optical traps dipole. Currently, we produce on a daily basis trapped samples of one or two atomic species, using lasers or 1.6 microns and at 10.6 microns. Such samples have generally 10e6 trapped atoms in densities of 10e12 and átomos/cm3 temperatures less than 20 ¼K. Currently, this sample is trapped the starting point of any kind of experiment in modern atomic physics. The objective of this project is to use our optical dipole trap to manipulate the collisional processes, whether involving Rydberg atoms and heteronuclear or collisions. With Rydberg atoms, we want to study the anisotropy in potential long-range microstructures through space. In heteronuclear samples, we use the dipole trap to trap the atomic sample heteronuclear; -fotoassocia there and trap the cold molecules. Optical pumping processes are used to produce molecules in the fundamental vibrational state. (AU)
