Abstract

It is proposed to synthesize multifunctional nanoparticles of titanium oxide (TiO 2) and silver molybdate (Ag2MoO4) solvothermal method assisted by microwave TiO2@Ag2MoO4 structure with a core/shell. The synthesis of TiO2@Ag2MoO4 be made from dilute solutions of the salts of departure in different solvents, temperatures and times to control the size and shape of the nanocrystals. The antimicrobial properties and photocatalytic materials will be analyzed as a function of composition and morphological changes. Characterizations will be performed by X-ray diffraction, Raman and infrared vibrational and N2 physisorption (BET method). The morphologies of the crystals will be analyzed by scanning electron microscopy with electron gun for field emission and transmission. The optical properties are investigated by electronic spectroscopy in the ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis). The photocatalytic properties of these materials for the degradation of organic dyes will be tested in the presence of irradiation with UV lamps. Finally, it will assess the antimicrobial activity of these materials to control different types of microorganisms and/or bacteria. (AU)
