Abstract

It is proposed to synthesize multifunctional titanium oxide (TiO2) and silver molybdate (Ag2MoO4) nanoparticles by microwave-assisted solvothermal method with core/shell TiO2@Ag2MoO4 structure. TiO2@Ag2MoO4 synthesis is performed from dilute solutions of precursor salts in different solvents, reaction times and temperatures to control the nanocrystals size and shape. The antimicrobial and photocatalytic properties will be analyzed as function of composition and morphological changes. Characterizations will be carried out by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and N2 physisorption (BET method). The crystals morphologies will be analyzed by field emission gun scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The optical properties will be investigated by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The photocatalytic properties for the organic dyes degradation will be tested in the UV lamps irradiation. Finally, the antimicrobial activity will be evaluated in different types of microorganisms and/or bacteria control.
