Abstract

This project aims to facilitate the stay of the researcher from the Universidad de la República (Montevideo, Uruguay), Dr. Andrea Díaz Genis, for twelve months at the Faculty of Education at the State University of Campinas. The researcher is conducting investigations in recent years with his research group in UDELAR concerning the last courses of Michel Foucault at the Collège de France, focused on ancient thought and focused on concepts such as care of the self and parrhesia. In these courses, even though the issue was not central to education, the philosopher worked elements of great interest to think the philosophy of education in a register another, totally different from that which has been developed between us. In parallel, we, at Campinas, also have been developing studies in this field in the work of the French philosopher and have sought to approach our research groups, such as joint production. An article wrote together, named "Philosophy of education, spiritual exercises and art of existence", was approved for a special dossier in the journal Education in Focus, Federal University of Juiz de Fora, to be published in early 2014. As a way of approaching our investigations and research groups, enabling a deepening and improving the work of both, we proposed a project CAPES international cooperation within the framework of the agreement CAPES-UDELAR, which has been approved and is in force since August 2012.
