Abstract

Among the many management practices of viticulture, affecting the profile of grape polyphenols and vine health, increasing exposure of the clusters, done by selective removal of leaves is accepted as a robust tools to influence the concentration of these substances (grape quality) and mitigate the incidence of plant diseases. Moreover, the wine industry is traditional, with hand labor today sparse. Therefore, this project proposes the acquisition of technological grounds on the hydraulic-mechanical processes for semiautomatic mechanical defoliation of the vine, with the development of a prototype able to perform that operation under the conditions of soil-plant of Brazilian vineyards. Jointly, the impacts of the introduction of mechanized defoliation on yield components and grape composition will assessed. (AU)
