Bone disorders in broiler

Abstract

This proposal will be developed two experiments to study bone disorders in broilers. In the first experiment (Form of walk of broilers of current lines), will be applied the block randomized design, allocated in 2 x 2 factorial scheme (two strains-Cobb 500 ® and Ross 308 ®-and two sexes), with six repetitions of 50 birds each. Will be housed 1200 chicks a day, distributed equally between the treatments, which are created in the Paulista State University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, Poultry Sector, receiving the same nutricional value diet. To 40 days of age 100 of the birds will be assessed by gait score by assigning 0 to 5 notes and the walk of three birds in each score in each treatment, will be filmed for evaluation. To these same birds will be administered analgesic and after 60 minutes the film assessment will be repeated. The 43 days of age these birds will be slaughtered for income assessment and casting parts, spondylolisthesis, bone strength, Seedor index and black bone syndrome (SON), bone ash percentage and calcium and magnesium levels. In the second experiment (black bone syndrome in broilers supplemented with vitamin D) will be created in 2400 broiler equally distributed between treatments. The experiment will be allocated in a block randomized 2x2x2 factorial (two strains - Cobb 500 and Ross ® 308 ®, two sexes and with or without addition of 24 mg / t 1,25 (OH) D3), and 6 to 8 treatments replicates of 50 birds. The features are evaluated performance, carcass and parts, bone strength, SON, sensory evaluation and economic analysis. At 43 days of age will be slaughtered 6 birds per replicate, the legs will be stored at refrigerator temperature (4 ° C) and freezing (-18 ° C) for evaluation of SON. These samples will be used for sensory analysis and acceptance testing. (AU)
