Abstract

The Ouro Preto and Diamantina cities of the baroque-rococo, Minas Gerais of Brazil are treated, in this doctorate, as urban totalities inserted in the process that we conceptualize as global patrimonialization. This approach required a periodization for the understanding of the symbolic resignification of these cities, whose moments imbricated from this process in the colonial cities are considered: 1) a particularity of a universal duty genesis and incipience of the historical heritage movement in Brazil; 2) territories of national identity; 3) territories of identity of capital; 4) emerging as patrimony-merchandise cities, in the most notorious phase of global patrimonialístico, which reinvents the baroque and stimulates the recolonization of Brazilian historical centers; 5) baroque as the possibility of becoming, of the empowerment of material-symbolic goods by the population. Such periodization is thought under the dialectical perspective of the geographic space favors the analysis of the socio-territorial order of Ouro Preto and Diamantina, beyond the limits of the federal tipping, so that the urban political relations and patrimony politics is pointed as the first condition to the empowerment of this mining world heritage, by its local population.
