Abstract

Four trials will be conducted with the aim of evaluate the addition effects of protease and chitosan addition in broilers diets. In the first experiment, it will be used 768 birds, that will be created from 1 to 42 days old, distributed in a completely random design in a 2x2x2 factorial arrangement (with or without addition of protease, two nutritional levels and two physical forms of feed) with eight replicates per treatments. Performance, pancreatic enzyme activity, carcass yield, and economic analysis of broilers fed with mashed and pelleted diets with or without addition of protease will be evaluated. In the second experiment, it will be used 200 birds that will be created from 1 to 21 days, with the same treatments of the first experiment and five replicates, for determination of digestibility of the experimental diets. The birds will receive the following experimental treatments: T1 - mashed diet with reduced nutritional levels and without addition of protease; T2 - mashed diet with reduced nutritional levels and with addition of protease; T3 - mashed diet with recommended nutritional levels and without addition of protease; T4 - mashed diet with recommended nutritional levels and with addition of protease; T5 - pelleted diet with reduced nutritional levels and without addition of protease; T6 - pelleted diet with reduced nutritional levels and with addition of protease; T7 - pelleted diet with recommended nutritional levels and without addition of protease;T8 - pelleted diet with recommended nutritional levels and with addition of protease. In the third trial, different levels of inclusion of chitosan and its effects on performance, carcass yield and abdominal fat deposition will be studied. The best level of chitosan inclusion obtained from the third experiment will be used in the fourth trial. In the fourth trial, 720 birds will be randomly assigned in a factorial design 3X2 (with growth promote, without growth promote, chitosan inclusion X recommended level of energy and low level of energy) with six treatments and 10 replications of 12 birds each. Characteristics will be examined: performance, carcass, breast, legs, and abdominal fat yield. In addition, concentration of triglycerides, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein will be analyzed in serum samples. (AU)
