Infrastructure update in communication by video conferencing to promote multicampus research activities

Abstract

The UNESP, with its 34 faculties and institutes, is present in 24 cities of the state of São Paulo. The need for researchers of these units to develop joint research projects and other activities is very often. This project aims to optimize the contact by updating the communication infrastructure by video conferencing.Currently, researchers from FEB participate in post- graduation studies interacting with other programs in other campuses. The system under design would allow researchers to develop their research activities without the need for long trips, also eliminating the high costs of per diem and transportation, physical exhaustion and of course the risks inherent in any dislocation, besides contributing to lower carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere. It should also be noted that the breakthrough technology has brought to the academic community, and this new communication interface has become a critical resource facilitator in supporting education and research. Thus, video conferencing presents itself as a modern and effective solution to the difficulties that UNESP, given its decentralized profile, faces in conducting its activities. The system also allows interaction with other universities and research institutions outside the UNESP and abroad. (AU)
