Abstract

The advent of psychotropic drugs concerned an important role in the context of psychiatry, since that allowed severely compromised patients could benefit from other therapeutic modalities, such as psychological, as well as enable them to be treated in open environments, replacing psychiatric hospitals. However, what is seen currently is the indiscriminate use of these drugs. In this respect there is a gap in the literature to investigate in primary health care factors related to the consumption of psychotropic drugs, and also if people without a defined psychiatric diagnosis who makes use of that kind of medication, are positive to Mental Common Disorders (CMD). Given that primary care is considered the main gateway for patients with psychological complaints, the dissonances and risks related to the high rate of use of psychotropic drugs as well as the scarcity of studies conducted in primary care correlating these data with the presence of CMD, are presented the objectives of this study: to identify in Basic Health Units prevalence of use of psychotropic drugs, and to correlate it with the presence of CMD, the sociodemographic profile and pharmacotherapy, to medication adherence and quality of life of the subjects. This study will be carried out with a quantitative approach, cross-sectional, descriptive correlational character. It will be investigated statistical associations between the study variables using the chi-square test, with no association found accepted when p is less than or equal to 0.05. (AU)
