Abstract

The adolescent engagement in gangs has been discussed by several authors because of the damage it causes in personal and social aspects. One of the most relevant damage which is still less explored in the literature is related to the mental health of young offenders. Thus, we intend to understand the relationship between mental health of adolescents and their involvement with groups who commit offenses. This is a quantitative, descriptive and comparative which will be developed in a partnership between the University of São Paulo and King's College London. The instruments to develop this study are the Critério de Classificação Econômica Brasil, Eurogang Youth Survey (which will be translated and adapted for Brazilian context) and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. The data will be grouped and analyzed using SPSS statistical software. (AU)
