Abstract
Controllers with proportional, integral and derivative action (PID) are widely used in industrial process control. However, due to problems of parameters tuning, many systems are not properly controlled, causing losses in the production process, inefficient energy consumption, among other negative factors. In single input single output (SISO), identification techniques and tuning methods have been intensively explored. On the other hand, for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, it is noticed that there is still a gap to propose new schemes for system identification and controller/ compensator design.Metaheuristic optimization methods represent alternatives to solve optimization problems. Such techniques, generally based on intuitive analogies with natural phenomena, provide a reasonable solution and an acceptable computational execution time for various types of problems.In this context, this project intends to investigate efficient decouplers and decentralized PID tunning methods for MIMO systems, using metaheuristic optimization.
