Abstract

Due to post-doctoral scholarship FAPESP, the publication contains research on the cultural clown Abelardo Pinto Piolin and his circus performance in São Paulo, especially its production of Circus Theater in Circus Piolin between the years 1933 and 1961. Its trajectory is followed from his training as a clown, his success in circuses Irmãos Oueirolo and Alcebiades, his influence with the modernist intellectuals, his performance at the Teatro Boa Vista in short season, his return with circus itself, dumping and forgetting, and the final season under the will of the Art Museum of São Paulo, in addition to analyzing the dramaturgy clown (entradas and comedies), the plays performed in his circus and the public that attended for nearly three decades.
