Abstract

The social attitudes toward inclusion are important variables of the school setting in which the inclusive education is constructed. The Likert Scale of Social Attitudes toward the Inclusion (LSSAI), with two statistically equivalent forms already in use for some years, was reviewed and a new version was elaborated, with the use of current terminology and better equivalence between the two forms. The goal of this study is to prepare a handbook addressed to application, correction and interpretation of results of LSSAI, since the data collected by means of that instrument have not always been properly analyzed and interpreted. The chapters of the handbook will be written and discussed in meetings of the research group to verify adaptation to its goal. New version will be written trying to improve the text. The handbook will have an appendix with population parameters constituted by measures of variation, central tendency and dispersion of the scores of groups that have been used as preferential participants in studies about social attitudes. LSSAI will be applied to representative samples of those groups - university students, teachers of the Basic Education and those of the higher education. Thus, the handbook will be addressed to guide the application, correction and interpretation of results, and also to be useful as a reference for the comparison and the position of groups or individuals, subjects of researches, in relation to the population to which they belong.
