Abstract

This project focus on galaxy clusters. Clusters are on the pinnacle of the hierarchical structure formation process in the Universe. For that reason they lie in the crossroads between astrophysics and observational cosmology. The amount and distribution of such objects carry information on the Universe that has formed then, including the dark energy. On the other hand, due to is almost closed nature, clusters can act as cosmic laboratories, where it is possible to study dark matter properties and its interactions among itself and with the rest of the cluster barionic matter. That is why clusters can be seen as portals for the dark universe.Due to its inherent complexity, galaxy clusters requires to use of multiple techniques and observations in multiple wavelengths in order do be properly understood. In this project the emphasis is on optical observations and gravitational lensing techniques that play a very important role on the weight of clusters and mapping of it mass distribution. (AU)
