Modeling a System for Dynamic Scheduling of Heart Surgeries in the Instituto do Coração - Incor - da Faculdade de Medicina da USP - FMUSP

Abstract

The objective of this work is to propose a dynamic model for the scheduling of cardiac and thoracic surgeries in the surgical unit of the Instituto do Coração - Incor - Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo - HCFMUSP - to optimize the use of human and material resources involved in this activity, providing greater efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided in the operating room. The methodology to be used is based on the theoretical, empirical and analytical proceedings for the development of a dynamic management system of the Incor/SP surgical unit. It is expected that the proposed model, validated by simulating, have a significant impact in reducing the waiting time for surgery, reducing the number of canceled surgeries, an increase in load operating rooms, and consequently, an increase in the quality indicators of the services provided by the hospital to society.
