Tillage systems for planting sugarcane in order to improve the productive capacity of the soil and reduce the environmental impact from this operation

Abstract

In the face of heavy traffic of agricultural machinery during the sugarcane growth period, the tillage operation has potential to contribute to sugarcane yield and longevity. This study will evaluate the soil attributes, resulting from tillage systems for planting sugarcane, the sugarcane yield and longevity. The experiment will be carried out in Jaboticabal, São Paulo State (21°14'05'' S and 48°17'09'' W). The areas have different soils: clay texture (clay content = 500 g kg-1) and medium texture (clay content = 300 g kg-1). The treatments will be two tillage systems for planting sugarcane: minimum tillage (total area mobilization) and located tillage (crop row mobilization). For the determination of soil attributes, disturbed and undisturbed soil samples will be collected, located between sugarcane row (apart 0.75 m of tussock) and on sugarcane row (apart 0.20 m of tussock). During the first two years of sugarcane growth period, the evaluation of soil attributes and sugarcane production will be done. (AU)
