Abstract

The Revista de Saúde Pública (RSP) has adopted since its beginning the evaluation by peer review system. Our editorial board is from varied institutional origin. The RSP was founded in 1967, and nowadays it has 47 complete and uninterrupted volumes. The mission of RSP is to publish and disseminate results of scientific research in the area of public health. With a bimonthly periodicity, this journal is open to contributions from national and foreign authors, presenting articles submitted in Portuguese, English and Spanish. About 500 manuscripts are submitted to RSP each year and the rejection rate is 68%. Since 2007, all manuscripts submitted in Portuguese or Spanish have been translated and published also in English. Thus, there are two versions that are published and indexed by SciELO. The RSP ranks the second position as the most consulted journals in the area of public health. The main international data bases that index the RSP are PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Sciences and Thomson Reuthers (lSI) JCR. Its performance has grown, and in 2011, its impact factor in the JCR was 1,328, although it decreased to 1,066 in 2012. In Scimago (Scopus), in 2012, its performance in the area of public, environmental and occupational health was: SJR: 0,924, index H53 in 2014. (AU)
