Abstract

This project consists of 3 subprojects that aim to: (1) Create and analyze a database of frugivore interactions and exotic plants in the Atlantic Forest; (2) Understand the factors that favor the biological invasion of an invasive palm (Archontophoenix cunninghamiana) mediated by birds , and its role in the maintenance of frugivorous' birds; (3) Assess the role of a megafrugivore, feral pig (Sus scrofa), in seed dispersal, herbivory, trampling and soil disturbance in forest fragments. Through field experiments and naturalistic observations we will understand how these species are positively or negatively affecting the impoverished ecosystems in where they live. (AU)
