Expansion of the Communication Bandwidth and of the Storage Capacity of the NCC Datacenter

Abstract

The rapid evolution of concepts related to distributed computing is closely linked to the speed of data traffic. A distributed computational structure has potential for use greatly increased if their components are interconnected through an efficient network and high throughput. The data network is therefore an essential component of GridUNESP and structures of the WLCG, being a fundamental part of the colossal distributed processing infrastructure built to perform the analysis of the data generated by the LHC. It will become even more important in the coming years, following advances in distributed systems and computer networks, including the paradigm of software-defined networking and virtualization technology systems. The NCC, recognizing this fact, has actively followed the evolution of this area, participating in development projects and demonstrations of international data transfers. The NCC has sought to maintain its updated technical and scientific body in the state-of-the-art processing and data transmission while it seeks to maintain its physical infrastructure comparable to the best international centers level. Expanding capacity data storage datacenter of the Center for Scientific Computing, UNESP has the primary objective of seeking a solution able to meet the demands of projects that are serviced by the Center, sharing the same infrastructure. This structure is essential to meet the projects assisted by the NCC. (AU)
