Abstract

The disposal of solid waste in the landfill of Cachoeira Paulista can not be considered the end of the treatment, once the water that comes from the degradation of waste and rain, percolates, originating leachate. Leachate has in its composition high levels of organic and inorganic compounds, in its dissolved and colloidal forms, released in the decomposition process of waste.In this context, this research aims to understand the treatment of the leachate in the landfill in natura of Cachoeira Paulista by Fenton oxidative processes and Catalytic Ozonation that will allow to compare and enable the processes of degradation of this type of effluent, considered a serious problem of environmental pollution.The evaluation of each oxidative process will consist in designed Fractional Factorial 2k-p experiments in the step of the exploratory study and the Composite Central Planning from the exploratory study, involving some specific parameters of the oxidative processes selected to feed the study of the process conditions optimization used in the Response Surface Methodology.For experiments related to the oxidative processes via Fenton and Catalytic Ozonation, the total organic carbon concentration (TOC) will be determined and the relation of TOC/DQO, and for the optimized experiments, all parameters elucidated by Article 18 of CETESB and CONAMA will be analyzed. On completion of the Project, it is intended to reach an optimized route among the oxidative processes of treating leachate from Cachoeira Paulista, regarding the best cost/benefit. (AU)
