Abstract

This project aims to modernize and expand the institutional infrastructure and research from UNICAMP Center for Public Opinion Studies (CESOP) to give greater visibility to the Center and its core activities (conducting research in voting behavior and political representation, public opinion and public policy and studies on democracy and political culture, the production of research resources through the National Data Bank for opinion Research, the development of scientific thought in the related areas through the magazine public Opinion and the formation of human resources in their research areas by supporting undergraduate and graduate activities of the University and conducting extension courses) along with national and international academic community. The project comprises three important actions: 1) the renewal of IT equipment; 2) the restructuring of multimedia equipment to support the extension, teaching and research, and 3) activities to develop a new corporate website as access to research information and reports to the National Data Bank Opinion Research tool room sample survey and the publication of the Center - Public Opinion Magazine - that are necessary to enlarge, strengthen and to give visibility to projects developed in its research (Organization and dissemination Database for Public Opinion research; Studies governmental institutions and public perceptions and attitudes about government actions and policies; Studies of political and electoral behavior, social behavior and media and politics); to increase storage capacity, processing and public access to research from the National Data Bank Opinion Research; to modernize the scientific editing of the journal Public Opinion and facilitate and expand access to your articles by topic, authors and issues and to broaden participation in the center of teaching and extension activities of the university, by conducting courses on methods and techniques preparation and analysis of results of quantitative research. The CESOP is recognized through the projects it develops, of which we highlight, for its national and international impact: the National Data Bank for Opinion Research, which currently has more than 3,500 databases of sample surveys in the field of social behavior and political; the Public Opinion Magazine, which publishes national and foreign on the theory and methodology in the field of public opinion research papers; electoral, political and social behavior; representative institutions; democracy and political regimes; public policy and related topics in the social sciences and is considered by Qualis CAPES as the only specialized magazine themes within the Political Science and the participation of CESOP as Brazilian representative in Comparative Study of Electoral Systems Project (www.cses.org), coordinated by University of Michigan, a project that brings together representatives of various countries in the study of representative capacity of electoral and party systems, through which the CESOP performs the Brazilian Electoral Study (ESEB) since 2002, post-election survey by sampling nationwide. In carrying out such research projects and core activities, the CESOP inserts undergraduate students to contribute in the academic and scientific training. The Center also hosts the Group of Studies in Brazilian Politics, formed by students at the Graduate in Political Science and Graduate in Social Sciences at UNICAMP. Thus, the actions proposed by this project to modernize and expand the institutional infrastructure and research CESOP seek further consolidate it as studies and research environment, increasing the involvement of students of Graduate and Undergraduate Programs in its research and its core activities.
