Abstract

The bladder has two properties that facilitate appropriate social interaction: storing urine, allowing periods of continence and emptying at times convenient and timely. The loss of the ideal conditions of these properties potentially change the quality of life , affecting social life , affecting work performance and affecting the affective and sexual life. Two examples of problems that cause these changes are changes interstitial cystitis/painful bladder and overactive bladder. Increased knowledge of these problems, doubts pathophysiological, diagnostic possibilities and potential treatments, is still a challenge urological not fully implemented . So we decided to evaluate the presence of single nucleotide polymorphisms ( SNPs ) in patients with Interstitial Cystitis, and evaluate the expression of metalloproteinases : MMP1, MMP8, MMP13, MMP2 and MMP9 and its main inhibitors (TIMP1 and TIMP2) in patients with syndrome Idiopathic Overactive Bladder.
