Abstract

Adequate primary stability in different bone densities is one of the factors considered important for successful osseointegration. The aim of this study is to comparatively evaluate the initial stability of four types of implants, using standardized bone cylinders from swine, high and low density, with and without bone defect in in vitro models; by analyzing three-dimensional (computed microtomography); insertion torque and pullout test.Bone cylinders will be prepared using swine bone, and will be separated into two groups: Group A: cylinders removed from the femur (high bone density) head, and Group B: cylinders removed from the jaw condyle (low bone density). Among each group A and B cylinders will undergo bone defects simulating a defect, thus, the implants be evaluated before these defects. Prior to experimental procedures bone cylinders will be certified through analysis of 2D and 3D images, to ensure uniformity within groups and distinguish between groups of specimens. After certification, will be held computerized microtomografias cylinders bone, for three-dimensional analysis of pre and post installation of implants pictures. Finally inserted implants in bone cylinders will be tested for pullout to assess how much force is needed so there is a displacement of the implant within the body of evidence. (AU)
