Abstract

The fused deposition modelling (FDM) is a technique used for tridimensional printing. Modern printers work with more than one material which can be combined to print a composite. New reinforced printing materials are evolving to render printed components of increased mechanical characteristics, broadening their applicability. Inside this context, the objective of this project is to develop methodologies for the design of composites by hierarchical optimization, involving the design of their microstructure, that can be produced by tridimensional printing. The behavior of the individual printing materials is also of interest, and an experimental characterization of them is planned. The results expected are to acquire know-how on the design and production of printed composites and understanding on the material behavior obtained by FDM. (AU)
