Abstract

The objective of this project is to analyze the social history of migration processes experienced in the work of musicians, highly skilled workers, in terms of social relations of class and gender, with reference to Brazil, both as a country of origin or a destination country. International migrations of musicians are understood in two ways: firstly, the Brazilians who migrate in search of work and formation to other countries, supported by different institutions, constitute the object of this research project. Among them, we highlight the VITAE Foundation - Support for Culture, Education and Social Promotion (1985-2006). On the other hand, musicians who immigrate to Brazil looking for work. In the latter case, the musicians of Eastern Europe working in Brazilian orchestras will be the main object of research. These professionals came here from the 1990s, and those who remained here, are in many orchestras, especially in the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, which represent approximately one third of the musicians. The two groups were selected in auditions crowded, experienced (and still experience many) the feeling of being a worker defined and treated as provisional, ie, revocable at any time.In the context of political and financial globalization sociological phenomenon to be researched acquires singularities, not yet analyzed, that contribute to understanding the world of work in the country. The growing individualization of the worker and the increased competition in the labor market also affect artists of different forms, including international migration. (AU)
